The Village of Beaufort
Beaufort, a tiny village of just 161 inhabitants, is the proud home of an award winning winery and one of the most popular restaurants in the Minervois.
The 12th Century chateau that gives the village its name, its character and its heritage designation is a magnificent structure that dominates the landscape for miles.
Walking through the narrow, twisting village streets is a delightful experience on its own.
Like the surrounding villages, Beaufort offers its own version of ochre coloured stone houses clustered tightly together around tiny squares and winding streets. Also like most villages in the region it has a church, a winery and a good restaurant. Visitors enjoy frequenting the weekly outdoor markets in neighbouring towns and villages.
